The second prototype chassis for Supercars Gen3 project has been unveiled today at PACE Innovations.

The Queensland-based international motorsport supplier behind the design, build, and assembly of the current Supercars race car iteration, ‘Car of The Future’ (COTF), prototypes, unveiled the unpainted Gen3 chassis in its Yatala workshop today.

The images show the front and rear sections of the Gen3 chassis.

PACE designed the current car model’s control chassis and builds the ‘spaceframe’ underpinnings for a number of teams, including defending Teams’ Champion – Shell V-Power Racing.

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said the second prototype will soon be moved to the Shell V-Power Racing Team workshop for further development.

“We’re very pleased that the second chassis is now completed and ready to begin the next phase of development with the Ford homologation team,” Seamer said.

“I’d like to thank the crew who have put in thousands of hours to reach this point, particularly the staff at PACE who have a history of international success.”

Supercars Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess said the Gen3 chassis is testament to the category’s commitment to increased road relevance, improved racing and greater safety.

“We’re proud of the work that has gone into the design and styling of the Gen3 cars; they look fantastic,” Burgess said.

“We’re also very satisfied with the developments we have made in regard to safety and repairability, which was a key objective of the program.”

Chairman and CEO of the Dick John Racing Team, Ryan Story said that as well as being the chassis kit supplier, PACE will supply completed chassis to the bulk of the field.

“Pace Innovations has been the chassis supplier to the Shell V-Power Racing Team since 2012 and together we have won three Drivers’ and three Teams’ championships since that time.

“They are an excellent partner with enormous experience and expertise; a perfect fit as we reach this important milestone being the completion of the prototype Gen3 Supercar chassis for the Ford Mustang GT.”

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship returns to the track next week with the fifth event of the year, the Winton SuperSprint from 29-30 May.

The event will be broadcast live and ad free on Fox Sports, streamed on Kayo with highlights broadcast on the Seven Network on Saturday and Sunday.
