HMO Customer Racing completed the opening day of practice on the cusp of the top 10 with the Hyundai i30 N TCR cars evenly matched on old rubber. Josh Buchan finished just ahead of teammate Nathan Morcom, while Duvashen Padayachee took a more cautious approach as he continues to gain experience in the front wheel driver turbo-charged car.

P1 2.24.596 (16th) P2 2.18.8595 (14th)
“The day went okay, though I didn’t think that I’d struggle this much down the straights with the extra 40kg. I’m honestly looking forward to what the Hyundai i30 N TCR can do around Bathurst on a green set of tyres. Our rubber weas well past its best after Phillip Island and the balance is almost there. We just have to put it on the flat patch tonight, tweak it up a bit and get it ready for qualifying.”

P1 2.20.3138 (9th) P2 2.18.6194 (13th)
“Today was much the same for me. We knew that Mount Panorama wasn’t going to be our strongest track but we are close on balance. At Phillip Island we gained a heap of time to get back towards the front of the field and we are expecting a similar result with the improved grip. Hopefully it won’t be too early in the day and we won’t be too rusty when we go out for qualifying.”
Duvashen Padayachee
P1 2.26.0586 (19th) P2 2.20.2706 (20th)
“It’s been a good day, it’s always good when you stay off the walls here. I’m just learning in every season, this is all still very new to me. So I have a fair bit to find driving wise. The last session was positive so I’ll try to tune myself up for qualifying.”
Scott Fulcher HMO Customer Racing
“Challenging is the word that sums up our day. It had a bit to do with the tyres and we are looking forward to tomorrow and qualifying on fresh sets of rubber. It is going to be a very bust day; and early start for qualifying, followed by two race in a day. That is certainly going to provide a new set of challenges for HMO Customer Racing on Saturday.
