AUSSIE RACING CARS CANCEL THEIR 2020 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Aussie Racing Cars have abondoned their 2020 national championship after their withdrawl from the Bathurst 1000 event and the cancellation of what would have been their final round at the Supercars Sydney Motorsport Park night race meeting in December.

For the first time in 21 years Aussie Race Cars won’t award the Championship Trophy in 2020.  Having completed only 1 event this year in February at Mount Panorama Bathurst for the 12 Hour event, the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of the remaining rounds of the series, read their statement.

The category was scheduled to attend next month’s Bathurst 1000 event with the Supercars, however uncertainty surrounding state borders and the ability of our national competitor base to attend means that the event isn’t possible at the moment.

The category may get the opportunity to run at Sydney Motorsport Park in December however that event, which would be non-championship is yet to be confirmed.

“The focus of the category now, is to work with Supercars and other event promoters to develop an exciting Championship Calendar for 2021,” said category mananger Brad Ward.
