This weekend the Supercars are at Townsville for their second doubleheader event on the trot, with the NTI SuperSprint up first. Gold Goast youngster Bayley Hall is having a run in his MARC car with the “Townsville TinTops” support category.
A late edition to the race meeting the Tin Top category sees 6-7 diffrent classes run together on the fast street circuit which includes Super3 Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup, the MARC Cars, Trans AM and Improved Production.
With most racing throughout Australia on hold due to the Pandemic, the support class has been a great way to get Queensland cars back on track.
“Had a great first day on the streets of Townsville. Super pumped and proud to edge towards the limit of the grip today,” Bayley told Velocity Magazine.
“Also proud to have Dunlop supporting the MARC cars this weekend and heaps of learning of how the make the Tyre work in the really greasy conditions this morning. With no rubber laid down and lots of dust it was a lot to learn. But started off with a few butterflies in practice and was confident for the day to come.”
“I Had a minor drama with the left front shock blowing on o-ring as the session started but came back out an qualified second in class by less than hair. Legitimately a blink of the eye 0.03 seconds. Then made the most out of the race putting the car where it’s belongs sending it down to turn 2 and taking that 1st spot. Only half a second of my qualifying pace every lap.”
“I noticed I’m still learning and growing every lap I go around. So it was a great day overall getting the Win in my class, and continuously growing everytime I enter a session.”
“Super pumped to fire it down into turn 2 midday tomorrow for Race 2. Thanks to the huge support of my friends and families and all the officials that have sacrificed their time to get us racers with passion of a lifetime out on track.”
The Townsville TinTops are back on track with two more 30 minute races tomorrow.
