Thanks to team partners Castrol and BP, Kelly Racing will this week field its first wildcard for the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries. Eighteen year-old Danish Renault Sport F1 Academy Junior Christian Lundgaard will be joining the team as the Eseries heads to Michigan Oval, followed by a second driver-voted venue.
Christian is a young gun on his way to the top-level of world motorsport having won two Formula 4 Championships in 2017, claimed a podium in Formula Renault in 2018 and made his FIA Formula 2 debut 2019. This year Christian is set to compete in a full season for Formula 2 after a successful debut at the Yas Marina F1 circuit last year.
Christian is currently in his fourth consecutive season in the Renault Sport F1 Academy – a young driver development program with the goal of finding future Renault F1 champions. While full-time racing is currently sidelined, Christian has excelled as the Renault DP World F1 Team Eseries driver. Christian returns to Formula 2 duties next month.

Supercars fans may remember Christian from his role as Kelly Racing driver André Heimgartner’s team mate in the Albert Park Virtual F1 Grand Prix event earlier this year. Christian, who is a highly experienced sim racer, went on to claim a podium finish in that race. The pair have since kept in contact and it was only fair Christian try his hand at a Supercars virtual event in the Ford Mustang.
This week he will race a third Kelly Racing Ford Mustang Supercar decked out in Kelly Racing and Renault DP World F1 Team partner colours from Castrol and BP. Christian will be competing from the Renault DP World F1 Team’s Chassis base in Enstone, UK.
The complete three-car Kelly Racing team will this week include Castrol Racing driver Rick Kelly, NED Racing’s André Heimgartner and wildcard driver Christian Lundgaard in the Castrol BP Mustang. The action kicks off from 6pm AEST Wednesday night.
This week the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries heads to Michigan Oval and a second yet to be confirmed circuit which is being decided by vote from the full-time drivers.
Christian Lundgaard, #98 Castrol BP Mustang
“I’m very much looking forward to this opportunity and having a go at something which is completely new to me. I’d like to say a huge thanks to Renault DP World F1 Team, Castrol, BP, Kelly Racing and Supercars for making it happen.”
“As always, I’ll do my best and take it step by step. We don’t do racing if we’re not going to try and win, so I’ll try my best to win but at the same time have as much fun as possible and look to learn a few bits and pieces along the way.”
