PENRITE RACINGS BARRY RYAN LOOKING FORWARD TO SUPERCARS eSERIES CHALLENGE

Penrite Racing’s CEO Barry Ryan is set to line up alongside 27 other names tonight for the first ever virtual celebrity race.
 
It will be contested at Australia’s iconic Mount Panorama, with Ryan taking the seat in the #999 Penrite Racing Commodore.
 
“I’m proud to be representing Erebus and Penrite Racing tonight and it’s probably the one and only chance I will get to be a driver,” Ryan said.
 
“I’ve been practicing for about two weeks now, trying to do a couple hours a day and trying to get tips off anyone I can.
 
“Anton (De Pasquale) has been helping get me up to speed and I’m doing all I can to represent our sponsors and our team well.

“It’s certainly going to be a challenge but one I am looking forward to.”

Athletes from various sporting codes – including AFL, A-League, Motocross, Moto GP, Cricket, Surfing, Dakar, NRL and Rugby – will fill the grid.

Some familiar faces include Supercars Neil Crompton, Craig Lowndes, Steve Richards, Brad Jones, Ryan Story and Zak Brown.
 
While other names of interest include 2014 Australian Rally Champion and Pedders Managing Director Scott Pedder, Olympic silver and Commonwealth gold medallist John Steffenson, and former Australian test cricketers Brad Hodge and Peter Siddle.
 
Steffenson and Siddle will both run the Erebus logo on their wing and mirrors, while Hodge will also represent the team in a Penrite Racing Commodore.
 
The team’s real-life driver Anton De Pasquale will play spotter for Ryan in tonight’s race, while teammates David Reynolds and Will Brown will be working behind the scenes with Steffenson and Motocross star Dan Reardon.

Two 9-lap races, including one reverse grid, will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506 following the Supercars SideTracked program from 7pm, and also be broadcast live on the team’s Facebook page.
