Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Brenton Grove is gearing up for the final round of the 2019 Dunlop Super2 Series at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 (November 22-24).
The Newcastle Street Circuit plays host to the season finale, Round 7, with its 12-turn, 2.641km layout taking in Newcastle Beach and the foreshore around Nobbys Beach Reserve.
Since last year’s event tweaks have been made to the track, with the hairpin at Turn 11 having been re-profiled to allow better opportunities for overtaking.
As the season comes to a close the 22-year-old is looking to capitalise on a strong base for the weekend.
“I’m really keen to get up to Newcastle and see the changes made this year,” said Grove.
“The track is a couple of years old now and each year there are subtle changes going into the event.
“I know that the layout of Turn 11 is slightly different so the approach to that corner will be even faster this year.
“Coming from Sandown I think we have a really strong understanding of the car and the balance we need heading into Newcastle.
“Hopefully we have the car in a reasonable window rolling out of the truck and can capitalise on a strong base for the weekend.”
Track action for Super2 begins on Friday with Practice 1 at 10:35 AEDT and Practice 2 at 14:00 AEDT.
Saturday kicks off with Qualifying at 10:20 AEDT ahead of Race 1 at 14:50.
The curtain is brought to a close on Sunday with a similar format of Qualifying at 10:50 AEDT and the final race of the season at 14:50 AEDT.
