Truck Assist TEKNO Racing’s Jack Le Brocq and Jonathon Webb have had their best weekend of the Supercars season to date, claiming a pair of 13th place results from the Vodafone Gold Coast 600.
Over the course of the weekend, the duo avoided the ever-present carnage in the concrete canyon, while also making it to the race lead on both days.
“It was a great effort by Jonathon and the whole team, everyone here deserves some good results for all of their hard work,” said Le Brocq.
“We actually had great speed at the end of the runs, and especially through the chicanes, the Truck Assist Commodore was flying.
“I think both results will put us in a pretty good place in the Hard Charger award standings.
“Onwards and upwards, I can’t wait to get to Sandown and finish out the enduro season strongly.”
On-track action commenced with three 30-minute-long practice sessions on Friday, with Le Brocq 21st in the opening run, before Webb set the sixth fastest time in the co-driver only second session, while both drove in the third, which resulted in 18th on the time sheets.
Webb took the wheel for Saturday’s 20-minute qualifying session, setting the 25th fastest time.
With Le Brocq onboard for the race start, a long first session saw the car pit from the lead on lap 39 of 102.
The second stint saw Webb climb through to fifth prior to stopping again on lap 71, while the interrupted run to the chequered flag saw the number 19 Commodore climb up to 13th.
Sunday’s morning shortened qualifying session saw Webb claim 22nd on the grid for the final 300km race.
Le Brocq started, and skilfully avoided the opening lap carnage to find himself in 14th place after a single circuit.
A long first run saw Le Brocq pit once again from the lead on lap 38, where he handed over to Webb.
Pitting for the second time from eighth on lap 63, Webb found himself in 13th position by lap 75, and held station until the finish, despite both drivers incurring five-second penalties throughout the race for chicane related indiscretions.
Following the Gold Coast, Le Brocq currently sits 21st in the season standings, with the Pirtek Enduro Cup concluding at Sandown Raceway on November 8 to 10.
