MCADAM TELLS VELOCITY ABOUT HIS FIRST HIT OUT IN THE TCR AUDI

Velocity Magazines Toyota 86 Category Sponsor Liam McAdam Motorsport has had their first real run of the brand new TCR Australia Series at Winton Motor Raceway today with practice, qualifying and race 1.

After testing the Audi R3 LMS earlier in the month it all came down to a big day at Winton today, the normal running of two practice sessions on a Friday was reduced for this round to one practice first up, before heading into the 30 minute practice session.

We asked Liam to give us his take on the new class and review today’s events.

Practice P16 – 1:27.7938
Qualifying P13 – 1:24.9751
Race 1 10th – 1:26.6292

“Only having one practice session before qualifying made it difficult to get up to speed with the rest of the field before qualifying,” Liam told Velocity Magazine.

Liam is running in one of three Melbourne Performance Centre Audi’s and is confirmed to run the last three rounds at Winton, Sandown and The Bend Motorsport Park, the #4 Audi has been campaigned this year by Garth Tander, Jean-Karl Vernay and Aaron Seton in recent rounds.

“Having Russell Ingall and Leanne Tander on the team was invaluable, being able to compare data and learn from them was a big help.”

“We kept finding more pace throughout qualifying, I definitely have more speed to find, which will come with seat time.”

“The team has been great to work with so far, and I’m pleased with a top 10 result for my first race.”

There are two more races to take place tomorrow, at 1.15pm and 2.20pm.
