LIAM MCADAM SECURES AUDI TCR RIDE

ONE OF Velocity Magazines category sponsors Liam McAdam Motorsport has confirmed to us overnight that Liam will take the third seat in the Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS 3 LMS for the final 3 rounds of the 2019 TCR Australia series with a view of campaigning the car for the full 2020 calendar.

“The TCR field has a deep and strong talent bank so I hope to circulate and race cleanly in order that we learn the car,” Mcdam told Velocity Magazine.

“These three race meets are all about getting the whole team ready for a strong 2020 season. “

The team will still contest the Toyota Racing Series for the balance of 2019 with their three driver line up, as well as Liam completing his studies.

“This is a very exciting time for me and the team and the wile outfit is brimming with enthusiasm.  It’s a busy end to the year with three TCR races and three T86RS races and completing my engineering degree. Love the pressure.”

Liam McAdam – Driver, #97 Melbourne Performance Centre Audi

“I’ve never raced a front wheel drive car before, so there will be a lot to learn and get my head around,” said Liam McAdam.

“The Bend test that I did was a great to get comfortable in the car and see what it is all about. My times there were really good, but I know that racing will be a whole new story.

“The Melbourne Performance Centre team has been outstanding, but its not an accident that I’ve ended up in one of these cars – My family and I have a strong affiliation with the Audi brand. We have connections to people within the business, and we all drive their products on the road, so I feel like it’s a great fit.”

Troy Russell – Managing Director, Melbourne Performance Centre

“It’s great to have Liam join our team for the remaining rounds of the 2019 series,” said Troy Russell.

“We’ve had a few drivers come and go, and they’ve all been fast, but it will be great to have one driver locked in for the remaining races. Liam was really good in the test that we did at The Bend and we feel that he is going to fit into the team well.

“Winton is a circuit that should suit our cars. We’re looking forward to getting stuck into it.”
