Zane Goddard has finished P11 & P13 at the Ipswich SuperSprint for Round 4 of the 2019 Super2 Series Championship.
Race 1 – Position 11 ?
Fighting a flu, Goddard was quickest in Practice 2 and set the fastest time in Qualifying before getting a track limits warning on the second run and finishing P5.
On the race start Goddard dropped to P6 and an early Safety Car held up the Race.
On the restart Goddard was served a 5-second penalty for contact with his team-mate Everingham.
The Race was called time certain and Goddard crossed the line in P5 but was demoted to P11 as a result of his penalty.
“We had a pretty good race, there was a lot of carnage at the start which I’m glad we managed to avoid. Throughout the race I’d catch a break but it would never last long due to the safety cars which meant you really had someone breathing down your neck the entire time! Happy to collect solid championship points.”
Race 2 – Position 13 ?
Goddard was sitting P2 before the last-minute rush but a red flag mixed up track position and Goddard finished P5.
On the race start Goddard struggled off the line and dropped to P7.
Goddard passed Jack Perkins for P6, who then spun Goddard off the track by on lap 11, sending him down the order.
Perkins was given a 15-second penalty and Goddard crossed the line in P13.
Despite his tough results, Goddard has remained 2nd in the Super2 Series Championship Standings.
“Another disappointing race. Battled to 6th before being turned around. Shame for everyone at MW Motorsports. Congrats to (teammate) Bryce Fullwood for his win.”
Goddard’s next event will be the Bathurst 1000 for Round 5 of the 2019 Super2 Series, to be held on 10 – 13 October.
