The Australian Racing Group is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement to assume the commercial management rights to the popular Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters category.

The exciting new arrangement will see ARG assume the commercial management of TCM, joining its suite of other categories under the ARG banner, including TCR Australia, TCR New Zealand and S5000.

The existing management of TCM category, led by Tony Hunter, will remain in place for 2019.

The Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters class is regarded as one of the most popular national motor racing classes, commanding a strong interest with fans and the industry.

Evolving from the historic Group N regulations, the TCM class was conceived in 2007 and features iconic cars from Australia’s glorious touring car history.

In TCM, the cars are the stars, showcasing a large selection of immaculately prepared touring cars of the pre-1981 era. The cars include some of the sport’s most iconic machines from Falcon GTs, BOSS Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, Chrysler Chargers, Holden Monaros and Toranas to Porsches, Ford Capris and more.

While the cars catch the eye, the drivers competing also add to the retro flavour. The drivers who have competed, both past and present, include former Australian Touring Car champions John Bowe, Jim Richards and Glenn Seton, as well as other touring car aces Steve Johnson and Tony Longhurst.

For over a decade, TCM has held the majority of its events alongside the Supercars Championship, while also headlining its own races at the Muscle Car Masters.

The next round of Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters heads to Queensland Raceway this weekend, followed by a stand alone event, headlining the popular Muscle Car Masters Race weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park on the first weekend of September. The Sydney TCM race meeting will feature a night race.

Matt Braid
Director, Australian Racing Group

“We are extremely pleased to have concluded an agreement with Tony to assume the strategic and commercial management of the Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters,” said Matt Braid.

“TCM is such and iconic and popular race category in Australia – with fans, event promotors and broadcasters, and compliments the existing categories in ARG’s portfolio.

“We look forward to working with Tony Hunter and the TCM entrants to continue to build on the category’s strengths while pursuing additional opportunities for TCM that being part of Australian Racing Group will provide.”
