TICKFORD TOPS TWO TOWNSVILLE FRIDAY SESSIONS

Tickford Racing’s weekend at the Townsville 400 got off on the right, albeit damp, foot on Friday as drivers Cameron Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) and Lee Holdsworth (No. 5 The Bottle-O Ford Mustang) led the Supercars field in each of the two Friday practice sessions. In a wet first practice in the late morning, it was 24-year old Waters top the timing sheets, while Holdsworth’s fast lap at the chequered flag of Practice 2 was quick enough to lead all drivers.
Will Davison (No. 23 Milwaukee Racing Ford Mustang) had a fairly productive day, placing fourth and 11th in the respective sessions, while Chaz Mostert (No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang) only turned ten total laps on the day, placing 16th and 14th in the day’s sessions.
After electing to sit out a majority of the wet Practice 1, Mostert and his Supercheap Auto Racing squad’s limited running in Practice 2 was due to an electrical issue which was causing a loss of power in the No. 55 Mustang. Mostert spent an extended period of time in the garage during the second session while the crew diagnosed the problem, but reported a remedied car at the end of the session.
The Supercars field returns to action Saturday morning with Practice 3 at 9:55 a.m. AEST, followed by qualifying at 11:50 and Race 17 at 1:10 p.m.
