Qualifying – Friday, June 21

Result: 10th. Alex qualified creditably without the benefit of a slipstream ‘tow’ from other drivers on this power-oriented circuit.

Race 1 – Saturday, June 22

Result: 8th. Alex scored his first FIA Formula 3 Championship points after some torrid action in the first of the weekend’s two 20-lap, 116km races. He briefly ran as high as sixth place in the second half of the race, but was overtaken before the finish due to tyre degradation and damage to his car’s floor, which affected the aerodynamics. However, as the eighth placegetter he will start from pole position in Race 2 under the FIA F3 Championship’s top 8 reverse-grid rules.

“I was pleased to qualify in the top 10 in the first time and score my first FIA F3 Championship points, but disappointed not to hold onto sixth place in the race. My tyre grip dropped off a cliff in the second half, and the car’s balance changed after the floor was damaged over a kerb,” said Peroni.

“On the plus side it’ll be a buzz to start from pole in Race 2. We’ll make some set-up changes to improve the tyre life, and I’ll do everything I can to stay at the front!

“Thanks to Campos Racing and my sponsors and supporters. Without them I wouldn’t be able to contest this year’s FIA Formula 3 Championship.”
