Technical enhancements will continue for the ECB SuperUtes Series this weekend, with the introduction of a new wheel and tyre package for competitors at the Truck Assist Winton SuperSprint.

This weekend, the SuperUtes will race on a Yokohama R-spec tyre which is lower in profile and around 25mm wider than the previously used race tyre, while the new, lighter Hussla wheel is a brand-new addition to the category.

The opening practice session on Friday morning will be the drivers first run using the new wheel and tyre package, which is expected to allow drivers greater freedoms with camber set-up.

Supercars General Manager – Operations, Kurt Sakzewski, said the smaller diameter of the tyre will allow for lower ride height as well as improving the clearance to the wheel arch, which will allow the teams to lower the cars further again.

“The new wheel and tyre package follows the introduction of modified front dampers and the repositioning of rear frames in Perth, which saw teams drop their ride height by 10mm,” Sakzewski said.

“At Winton the SuperUtes will run 45mm lower again.

“As we move forward we will continue to make technical enhancements to the category as part of our program to improve the ECB SuperUtes series for both the fans and the drivers.”

Kiwi Tom Alexander now leads the ECB SuperUtes series having won the first ever races for Isuzu D-Max at the recent PIRTEK Perth SuperNight event.

The Ross Stone Racing 24-year old heads to Winton this weekend, where he claimed two out of three races in 2018 driving a Holden Colorado.

Mitsubishi Triton driver Elliot Barbour is currently second in the series after the opening two rounds just eight points behind Alexander.

Defending ECB SuperUtes Champion, Ryal Harris sits third with his Mazda BT-50 just 12 points off the pace.

There will be three races this weekend at the Truck Assist Winton SuperSprint for the ECB SuperUtes.
