TYLER EVERINGHAM PERTH PREVIEW
Half Price Parts Velocity Magazine Media Driver Tyler Everingham heads to Perth for the second round of the 2019 Dunlop Super 2 Series with renewed confidence after a rookie test session was organised by MW Motorsport at Winton. The reigning Kuhmo Tyre Australian V8 Tour Car champion also found plenty of positives from his debut in the category at the Adelaide Superloop 500.
“I am coming off a tough round in Adelaide and know I have a lot of ground to make up in regards to gaining as many points from this round as possible,” Everingham explained. I definitely reflected on the challenges I experienced at Round 1 and focused on the positives from the weekend. Matthew and the team at MW Motorsport were able to coordinate a Rookie test day for me at Winton a couple of weeks ago in which I came away more comfortable and confident with the car and myself.”
Tyler’s previous visit to Barbagallo raceway in the Australian Formula 4 Championship brought the young Dubbo resident his first podium, a result that Everingham would like to repeat.
“I’m definitely keen to get back in the car and compete at Barbagallo Raceway,” he said. “I have had success at this track a couple of years back with my first podium in Formula 4 so hopefully I can take some of that previous experience with me into this weekend. It is also going to be exciting to be apart of the night racing schedule. I’m expecting tough competition, as with any round in this series there are a number of extremely experienced drivers. Ideally I have high expectations on myself.”
Tyler has kept busy since Adelaide and has continued to work on his fitness and racecraft in preparation for the Perth event.
“I’ve been working on endurance strength by doing long distance bike rides and runs and focusing on my hydration,” Tyler stated. “ I am making sure I am prepared for longer distance races and more laps. As far as track time goes I have had a couple of sessions at my nearby drag track working on my reactions times and undertook a positive rookie test day with the team at Winton a couple of weeks ago.”
Everingham is determined to move forward as the championship unfolds, with an aim of regular top 10 finishes as the season progresses.
“My goal is to continue to improve and work my way closer to the front of the field and ideally be consistently running in the top 5 by the end of the year,” Tyler Everingham admitted.
Tyler will compete this weekend in the Dunlop Super 2 category at the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship Pirtek Perth SuperNight round from May 2-4 at the Barbagallo Raceway.
