– Jordan Love takes all three wins in dominating display at Phillip Island
– Dale Wood continues to lead championship
– Michael Almond completes a Sonic podium trifecta
– Thomas Maxwell shows great pace in his debut Carerra Cup season
Sonic Motor Racing Services has enjoyed one of their most successful outings in history, by clean-sweeping all three races at Round 3 of the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia season at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
Jordan Love continued his stunning form from the Australian Grand Prix to score pole and all three race wins, including the opening 22-lap endurance battle.
Love continued that winning form in Races 2 and 3, helping him narrow the gap to championship leader and team-mate Dale Wood.
Wood finished second in all three races, unable to get a jump on Love at the start of each race. Wood had the pace to keep his young team-mate within sight, but not enough to make a serious challenge at passing.
Wood, driving the Polyflor Porsche, continues to lead the title, now 21 points ahead of Love.
The only top three blemish on the Sonic weekend was in Race 1 where Michael Almond finished fourth behind Nick McBride. In Races 2 and 3, Almond got the better of McBride, finishing third in both races and giving him overall third for the weekend.
The team’s fourth entry of Thomas Maxwell finished sixth overall after claiming seventh, ninth and sixth in the three races.
Having cut his teeth in local Formula Ford and international Formula Renault competition, the young Northern Territorian is continuing his Porsche learning curve and impressed the team with his patience and improvement.
The next Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia season heads to Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway on June 14-16.

“To qualify on pole was something that I was really focused on and then to back it up with three wins was the icing on the cake,” said Jordan Love.
“It’s a huge credit to the team. The car was mega as soon as we rolled it out of the truck. We did a few little tweets here and there, but it was on it from the word go.
“My car had serious pace, great to get the result for the team, and to have all three of us on the podium was fantastic. Hopefully we can do it a few more times.
“It’s early days in terms of the championship, but we are building the blocks and building towards it. A few race wins are good, but we need to stay consistent and move forward.”
Dale Wood
#100, Sonic/Polyflor
“It was great weekend. Of course for me, it could have been one better, but if you are going to be beaten by anyone, it’s good to be chasing your team-mate,” said Dale Wood.
“Jordan is keeping me seriously honest, he is great off the start and doesn’t put a foot wrong once we are racing.
“It’s unbelievable for the team, finishing one, two three – it really was a great weekend. I bagged a tonne of points, so head down, bum up towards Darwin.
“This Sonic team is a good crew. Mick keeps everyone honest, and the fact that we have three guys right up the front, and Thomas is doing a top job as well, so we have a great thing going at the moment. We just need to keep it up.”
Michael Almond

“It’s sensational for the team, and it’s brilliant for Jordan Love, he is on fire at the moment,” said Michael Almond.
“The guys and girls have done a terrific job and it’s a massive credit to them.
“It was disappointing for me that I didn’t qualify as well as I should have, but I felt strong in the races.
“Finishing one, two, three doesn’t get much better. I’m really excited for the team.”
Thomas Maxwell
#5, Sonic/Hose Power
“It was really good. We got off to a good start to the weekend in qualifying and we had good speed all weekend,” said Thomas Maxwell.
“I’m really happy to have finished the last race in sixth place, which put all four of us in the top six.
“It’s a great result to the team and fantastic for everyone involved.
“I’m happy with my pace. We got a little unlikely in the first two races, but we fought back and showed we have the potential. I’m happy with how the weekend worked out.
“It’s good to be back here at Sonic. I feel that we have a good connection and bond with the team and work well together., It’s now up to me to get my head around this car which is a bit heavier that the single seaters that I’ve been used to. I need to retrain my brain and under\stand the characteristics of the car.”
