An expanded 2019 racing program will see Stephen Grove embark on a full season campaign in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

It comes with the formation of Team Australia, run by Herberth Motorsport, where Grove will join compatriots Marc Cini and Joey Mawson on the team, marking Australia’s best ever representation for a season in Porsche Supercup.

The championship’s calendar ties up with the Formula 1 World Championship and supports selected Grand Prix in Europe and Central America.

Grove has a wealth of international one-make experience having raced in several one-off appearances at Spa-Francorchamps (Carrera Cup France), Sepang International Circuit and Fuji Speedway (Carrera Cup Asia).

Last year, he also undertook a part-time program in the famed Supercup series, competing in the Monaco, Hockenheimring and Hungaroring rounds with French outfit Pro GT by Alméras.

That will increase to the full 10 race, nine event season in 2019, something the three-time Carrera Cup class title winner is thoroughly looking forward to.

“Having had my first taste of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup last season, I’m thrilled to now be part of this new Team Australia outfit for the entire 2019 season,” said Grove.

“The Supercup series limits the number of Pro-Am entries for each season, so it’s an honour for both myself and Marc to be accepted for 2019.

“After what I experienced last season at Monaco, Hockenheim and Hungaroring, I can’t wait to expand on that and compete in the entire Supercup series in 2019 and see how we go against the other experienced Pro-Am drivers in the series.”

The Porsche Supercup season will begin in Spain at Circuit de Catalunya from May 10-12, taking in some of the world’s best circuits.

Monaco street circuit forms Round 2, followed by the Red Bull Ring in Austria and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Round 5 is at the Hockenheimring in Germany, ahead of Budapest’s Hungaroring and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Monza, Italy is the last round in Europe while a doubleheader in late October will bring the chequered flag on the season at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
