Aussie Driver Search will enter a ‘Team of Champions’ in the competitive one-make Toyota 86 Racing Series this year.

Four of the popular talent finding program’s champions will compete for the Aussie Driver Search team this year, with Jaie Robson (2016 champ), Jake Burton (2017 Pro Comp winner), Jay Robotham (2017 Amateur Comp winner) and Ethan Grigg-Gault (2018 Amateur Comp winner) set to race in the opening round at Phillip Island in April.

Since winning the 2016 Aussie Driver Search, Jaie Robson has competed in the Aussie Racing Cars, Super2 Supercars and Australia GT, where he won the Australian Grand Prix support event last year.

Burton will be back for a second run at the Toyota 86 Series after making his debut last year, courtesy of his fully-funded drive.

The West Australian enjoyed some competitive outings and is hopeful of taking the next step towards the front of the field in 2019.

Robotham was one of the stand-outs in the Toyota 86 Series last year, consistently running in the top five and, with a year of racing in the class under his belt, is aiming to go for the outright championship.

Grigg-Gault is the newest member to the team, having won Aussie Driver Search’s Amateur competition last year. He will use his $50,000 prize money to kick-start his full season in the national Toyota 86 class.

The Toyota 86 Racing Series will host five rounds in 2019, kicking off at Phillip Island (April 12-14) followed by Townsville (July 5-7), Bathurst (October 10-13), Sandown (November 8-10) and the season finale at Newcastle (November 22-24).
