AUDIO – MATT CAMPBELL ON LAST WEEKENDS 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA

Over the weekend Queenslander Matt Campbell a Porsche Young Professional driver teamed up with Park Place Motorsport in the new Porsche 911 GT3 R for the 57th edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona.

It’s the first event for the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship – here is Matt’s audio report for us.

The race was red flagged twice due to very inclement weather, shortening the race by a few hours, Matt and the Park Place team started from 10th spot in the GTD (GT Daytona) class and worked their way forward to the eventual lead of the class but in hour 11 disaster struck when Matt went out for his second stint, on his out lap the car lost a rear wheel which saw Matt having to limp the car back to the pits.  Matt tells all about this in his audio report to us and their fight back from 17th.

Matt sent us his report from Las Vegas where he is on his way back to Australia to race in this weekends Bathurst 12Hour.

Velocity Magazine will be at the Bathurst 12 Hour for the four days, we hope to catch up with Matt over the course of the event for another chat, plus keep an eye on our website and Facebook pages for updates and photos from all of the classes racing.
