Bigmate Racing’s Supercars Championship driver Todd Hazelwood wrapped up Newcastle with his best result all season.

Finishing 13th after Race 30 of the Championship was a big win for the team, in what has been a challenging first year.   Hazelwood also brought home 21st in Race 31, which was another solid result for Bigmate Racing.

“Newcastle was a great weekend for us, we got our best personal result with 18th in Qualifying and 13th after Saturday’s race, which was really special,” Hazelwood said.

“It was a great reward for the team, it has been a very tough 2018 for everyone involved.   “Hopefully we can learn from everything and put that all together for 2019, which is shaping up to be a really exciting season.”

Hazelwood added that their attention will now turn to their test day in early December.

“We’ve got an exciting program ahead, we’ve got the test day on 11 December, using the ZB Commodore, which is currently being used by Jamie Whincup,” Hazelwood said.   “The recent purchase of the car is really exciting and it’s really going to see our capabilities as a team step-up in 2019.

“We’ve got a full day planned ahead there and we cannot wait to see what we’ve got ourselves in for.”

The Queensland-based driver thanked his team and partners for the 2018 season.

“A huge thank you to the team at Matt Stone Racing for the hard-work that no only goes on at the track, but also behind the scenes at the workshop … they put their heart and soul into what they do and without them I wouldn’t be here today,” Hazelwood added.

“Also a thank you to all our major partners, particularly Bigmate, iseek, Optus, James Rosenberg and all of our other associated sponsors, I believe we had 50 team partners this year.

“For a single-car team to have that many sponsors in our first year of the ‘main game’ is truly overwhelming.

“I look forward to working with everyone in getting ready for 2019 and moving forward to achieve some big goals.”

The team will now prepare for the test day with the Holden ZB Commodore on 11 December at Queensland Raceway.
