Red Bull Ampol Racing had fast cars but nothing to show for it after last weekends Supercars NTI Townsville 500 event at Reid Park – their qualifying pace let them down and saw them racing from the mid pack to the top ten in the races for most of the weekend. Read below what Broc Feeney and Will Brown had to say after the event.

“Yeah, just another tough weekend. The results aren’t representing the effort going in, which is a tough thing because everyone’s working extremely hard to try and fix our weaknesses.”
“We came here with a really good plan this weekend to try some different things. That was sort of our Friday, didn’t really work out, didn’t go to plan. Went in another direction to try and right it all. Tough day.”
“Another direction here on Sunday and I felt like, you know, I felt like today especially in qualifying we were a bit more in the fight. Like, I’d say we’re in that sort of top five group. But it’s a car that right now is so hard to drive. Very easy to make mistakes in.”
“Seventh in the Top Ten Shootout, sixth in the race, just and up and down day and weekend across the board. We’re still searching for our sweet spot setup wise, but then there are times this weekend where Will and I are eight tenths off in qualifying, so we’re off by not a little bit, it’s a lot of pace we’re looking for.”
“But as I said, everyone is working really hard, we’re going back and back to the drawing board, we’ll get it but we’ve got to keep working at it until we do.”

Race 3 Qualifying: 19th (1:13.6995)
Race 3 Result: 8th

“So we’re currently P7 in the Championship, but never ever comfortable unless you’re leading it, we’re in the ten but still need to keep working and keep improving. I’d love to get to P5 by the end of the Sprint Cup and maybe make a big move in the two Enduro Cup rounds with Scott.”
“Really I’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
“I passed something like twenty-nine cars this weekend, so that was a lot of fun, but need to qualify better and put the car up front. Would rather be in the running for a podium and a win instead of having fun passing cars.”
“To be better in qualifying it’s for me about minimizing mistakes, don’t make them, be fast and be consistent every time you go out there. I felt like I did a good job for what I had this weekend, but you know if we get everything 100% perfect hopefully who knows we can start just that little bit further up.”
“Looking forward to going to Perth and just having another weekend on track to try and redeem ourselves, try and be faster in this car, try and get up there.”
