SVG AND ZILISCH CLASH IN XFINITY THEN ZILISCH FALLS FROM CAR

There’s been very mixed results and feelings during and at the end of today’s NASCAR Xfinity race at Watkins Glen, with 18 laps to go Kiwi driver Shane van Gisbergen was leading before a tap from his team mate Connor Zilisch took his lead and ended his race in the Tech-Pro barriers in a hard hit.

“I was put in the wall” said SVG after the race, see the video below.

Zilisch went on to win the race but when he was celebrating the win in pitlane he fell from his car landing on his head and shoulders (we won’t run the video), he lay there where medical crews came to his aid, he was stretchered off to medical and then transferred to hospital, scans have revealed a broken collar bone but luckily no serious head injuries.

Zilisch was due to run in the NASCAR Cup series race at Watkind Glen tomorrow, but Trackhouse have withdrawn his entry due to the incident.

Shane van Gisbergen will start from second on the grid.
