AgBioEn, Australia’s first fully integrated bioenergy business, has entered a partnership with Tickford Racing for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars season.

Supported by Tsing Capital, a leading venture capital and private equity firm headquartered in China with offices worldwide, AgBioEn is a biofuels provider that operates with a net carbon negative, absorbing more carbon dioxide than is emitted in the process of converting food waste and agricultural biomass into fuel for automotive and aviation vehicles.

“We are thrilled to be joining Tickford Racing as a corporate partner,” said Charles Hunting, managing partner at Tsing Capital. “We are obviously in the energy industry, and you can’t find more energy – in both the physical and figurative senses – than at a Supercars event. Partnering with Tickford is an interesting prospect to us; while AgBioEn is young and a first in Australia as a renewable energy business, Supercars racing is one of Australia’s most historically prestigious sports. However both of our industries are growing and gaining popularity, which we believe makes this partnership a fruitful one for all parties involved.”

Tickford Racing CEO and Team Principal Tim Edwards also sees parallels between the two organisations, which should translate to a successful relationship.

“Motorsport is an industry based on innovation,” Edwards said, “and obviously biofuels is one of the most innovative industries of its generation. Everyone in the team is constantly finding ways to do their job faster and more efficiently, and that attitude is integral to AgBioEn, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to share that common ground in our partnership.”

Tickford Racing gets on track this Thursday at Albert Park for the Melbourne 400, in support of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
