Garry Jacobson is the newest Virgin Australia Supercars star as he joins the grid for the entire 2019 season with Kelly Racing in association with RABBLE.club.

In a deal only inked with the team and sponsor a week ago, Shepparton-based Jacobson will fulfil his long-held dream of becoming a Supercars star.

Jacobson formed part of the Kelly Racing (nee Nissan Motorsport) squad in 2018 in the PIRTEK Enduro Cup with Rick Kelly and will take to the wheel of the RABBLE.club backed Nissan Altima at the Superloop Adelaide 500, February 28-March 3.

With 100 Dunlop Super2 Series starts to his credit, he has been knocking on the door of the Supercars main game for several years now after stints across Holden, Ford and Nissan Super2 teams, culminating in his Championship in 2016 and first PIRTEK Enduro Cup campaign in 2017.

He will line up in the Kelly Racing squad alongside team owner, Rick Kelly, Simona de Silvestro and Andre Heimgartner.

Significantly, Jacobson – whose day job is to pilot a school bus for the family transport company – will become the first driver from Shepparton to race in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship full-time.

It completes a further part of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship driver puzzle.

It will also represent a change of manufacturer for major sponsor, RABBLE.club, but a continuation of its association with Jacobson.

RABBLE.club is a world leading sports and entertainment application that allows tracking of your health and wellbeing. This allows elite athletes, racecar drivers, performers and entertainers alike to track their fitness levels against numerous metrics alongside people from right around the world of all ages and fitness levels.

The company was launched with the 27-year-old Sheppartonian at the Adelaide 500 last year and counts Arnold Schwarzenegger and AFL legend, Robert “Dipper” DiPierdomenico as fellow Ambassadors. RABBLE.club is also the major sponsor of the Brisbane Continental Cycling professional road cycling team. It powers the Virgin Australia Supercars app and was the major sponsor of the Sandown 500 in 2018.

Jacobson will have his first test as a Kelly Racing Virgin Australia Supercars Championship driver on Thursday.

FROM THE RABBLE:

Garry Jacobson:

“I’m absolutely thrilled that we’ve been able to piece this deal together, it’s been a tough summer, trying to stay focused while all the negotiations have been taking place between my management team, RABBLE.club, other sponsors and the team.

“I can’t thank Rick and Todd Kelly and the entire Kelly Racing outfit enough for presenting this opportunity.

“For the team at RABBLE.club to show continued faith in me and what I do on track and bring their Supercars support across to Kelly Racing to allow us to do this speaks volumes for their commitment to building a world class product and their personal loyalty.

“To work with Kelly Racing across last season’s enduros was absolutely fantastic and now that I have my name on a Nissan Altima and am confirmed as a full-time Virgin Australia Supercars Championship driver is incredible.

“Since I was a kid racing karts at Numurkah I dreamed of the day of turning up to Adelaide for the first round and now that day is upon us.

“This is a proud day also for Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley to finally have a full time Supercars driver from the region. With Winton just down the road, the interest in the sport is strong in the region and as I’ve done since I started my racing career, I’m proud of where I’m from and have done everything I can to positively promote Shepparton, the Goulburn Valley and everything it has to offer.

“The test on Thursday will be fantastic to finally get in the car and settle in after the summer that has been, then straight after that we’ll be in Adelaide – I cannot wait!”

Fiona O’Keefe – RABBLE.club

“The team at RABBLE.club are excited to continue our association with Garry Jacobson. After joining forces with Garry and his Super2 campaign in 2018 we were very impressed with the way that Garry committed to chasing after his goals both on and off the track.

“Garry has been a great ambassador for our brand and we look forward to continuing this relationship as he steps up into the Supercars category full time.

“Health and wellness is our priority and there is no better way to showcase the benefits of a healthy lifestyle than with a high performance athlete such as Garry, we also look forward to growing our relationship with the Kelly Racing organisation as we work towards achieving mutually beneficial goals.
