BILL CAMPBELL MEMORIAL RACE FOR GROUP N TOURING CARS
Last weekend at Morgan Park Raceway the Queensland Historic Racing Car Club (HRCC) held their annual Autumn Historic Race Meeting, and the Bill Campbell Memorial Race for Group N Historic Touring Cars saw 18 cars line up for this special race.
Bill Campbell was the long serving president of the Warwick District Car Club who are responsible for Morgan Park in Warwick, about 1.5 hours South West of Brisbane, he was instrumental in building the circuit and club into what it is today. Bill is of course young Matt Campbell’s grandfather.
Teresa (TC) Campbell who incidentally taught Matt to drive at Morgan Park raced Bills Holden Torana in the memorial race, “it was great to race dad’s car again at Morgan Park, the number 23 Torana is very special to us all” said Campbell after the weekend.
The winner of the Memorial race this year was another young driver in Ashley Heffernan.

Is Ashley any relation of Tom Heffernan, who used to race a GTR Torana in the 1970’s, Tom had the BP Miles service station, and the local Holden dealership.
Hi John, yes he is, that would be his great uncle, Ashley is Kevin Heffernan’s son and Kevin raced at Bathurst in the early Supercar days in 1995, here is a link to a photo: http://autopics.com.au/95729-kevin-heffernan-holden-commodore-vp-bathurst-1995/
