Shane van Gisbergen made it two-from-two with another convincing win at the OTR The Bend…
Gold Coast youngster Bayley Hall is doing all the right things to be getting noticed by the big wigs in Supercars after winning the MARC 1 Cars category at last weekends Supercars SuperSprint in Townsville.
A last minute rush to put together support classes for the Townsville Supercars Doublehader yielded great results in the form of the Townsville Tin-Tops. Taking the top Australian motorsport categories and putting them all together in a race format was very much a stroke of genius and the organisers should be commended.
On the grid they combined the MARC Cars 1 & 2 with Super3 Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup, Trans AM, Australian GT and Improved Production – this then ensured great close racing with the Porsches and the GT car of Tony Quinn battling it out with the Supercars and the MARC cars as well.
Bayley won two of the three races for his class which gave him the round win. His motorsport this year has been a baptism by fire affair that has seen him show off his true potential starting with racing in the Intercontinental GT Challenge event at the Bathurst 12 Hour early this year. And whilst the pandemic has curtailed most of his racing for 2020 he’s shown he is still quick after being out of the car for so long.
“Supporting the Townsville Supercars Supersprint was an incredible experience that I am so grateful to the organisers, my family, my supporters, the officials and my amazing Marc Car team. I was so thankful to finally get the helmet back on again and debut in one of Australia’s greatest towns and race tracks,” Bayley told Velocity Magazine.
“I really challenged myself to push the limit and get the most out of the Tyre and myself. I started the day off with some poor rubber that had run the last two sessions and then a sensor failure caused a lack in horsepower stripping my ability to protect the position in Race 2.”
“However the MARC Car crew got the Green Machine back up & ready to go and even faster so I was able to be on the attack again. Getting back to first in my category and fighting hard with another TA2 and Marc 1 made me very proud to come out on top. It was one of the hardest but most rewarding races I’ve ever completed with some of the greatest car positioning I’ve ever had to make.”
“I’m so thrilled for the team & my incredibly supportive family getting the round win. My engineer and Marc Car guru Morgan Haber gave me the car and the teachings to get the job done & I loved working with him. This weekend was all about experience & new learnings so I couldn’t be happier to achieve a memorable result as well. “
“Now I’m raring and ready to go racing again as soon as I can, that was so much fun! Thank you so much everybody for your support this weekend.”
