The Aussie Racing Cars have only had one round so far this year at the Bathurst 12Hour event, their return to racing was slated for the end of this month at Wakefield Park, a race meeting that all of the teams were looking forward to. But now this event has been cancelled due to the ever changing COVID-19 conditions and border closes.
The Aussie Cars head office is based on the Gold Coast and there are teams in both Victoria and Queensland that are not permitted to travel to New South Wales due to all of the border restictions now in place.
Brad Ward the ARC Category Manager told Velocity Magazine, “Recent developments and border closures across the country mean that an Aussie Race Car National Championship event isn’t possible at the moment, so the planned event at Wakefield Park is cancelled and the category is now looking forward to return to race at Mount Panorama as part of the Bathurst 1000 event in October. “
The next round at bathurst is always a favourite with the Aussie Racing Car teams, many of which are itching to get back on track, but ther are all well aware that the country’s health is first and foremost in their thoughts.
