Jackson Wall’s 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup campaign has been derailed by Italian quarantine restrictions.
Walls was one in a number notable absentees, with just 18 cars at the Monza test at the start of the week. The reasons were finally made known on Tuesday evening via his Facebook page.
“I’m hugely disappointed to report that I will be missing the first two rounds of @renault_sport_series due to the quarantine restrictions imposed on Australians by the Italian Government,” Jackson Walls page stated.
Despite Australia’s low COVID-19 infection rate, travellers to Italy are obliged to complete a mandatory 14 day quarantine period. Despite the best efforts from both the Renault Sport organisation and Wall’s Arden team, he was not granted an exemption and will miss the back to back opening rounds at Monza and then Imola while he completes quarantine.
Despite the setback, Walls still remains upbeat and has set is sights on the third round of the Championship series at the Nurburging in two month’s time.
“I’m grateful for the efforts of ARDEN, Renault and, in particular, my family to get me to Monza and for the efforts of the team to prepare for the season under very difficult circumstances. It will be frustrating to watch from the sidelines, but we will make every effort to line up at Round 3 in Germany in September”
