Toowoomba’s Cameron Shields today announced he will return to the United States to race in the Road to Indy USF2000 Series with Legacy Autosport.
“Legacy Autosport has been able to offer an opportunity to me that no other team can match. All of the team members have decades of combined knowledge in Open-Wheel Racing and I’m really looking forward to working with everyone to develop my skills in and out of the car. It is a very professional outfit and has a great platform to invite sponsors and partners to be apart of the journey on The Road to Indy,” Cameron told Velocity Magazine this morning.
Cameron has a rich history in single seater racing at such a young age both in Australia and Internationally, with 53 Open-Wheel race wins, 112 Open-Wheel Podium finishes, 2019- AiM Move of the Year – USF2000, 2019- Hi-Tide Spirit Award – USF2000, 2019- Carb Night Classic Race Winner at Indianapolis, 2019- Sports Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship Recipient (announced 2018), 2018- Australian Formula 3 Premier Series Championship – 2nd, CAMS 2017- Australian Young Driver of the Year, CAMS 2017- Foundation Rising Star Scholarship, 2017- Australian Formula 4 Championship – 3rd, 2017- Australian Formula Ford Championship – 2nd, and 2016- Australian Formula 3 National Class Champion (Youngest person to win National Formula 3) – Legacy and Shields will be the team to watch in 2020.
