Penrite Racing’s Anton De Pasquale has squeezed in a last-minute lap time during qualifying to secure his place in the Top Ten Shootout.
The young gun produced a 2:29.8288in the wet conditions, good enough for provisional 10th.
While teammate David Reynolds couldn’t get the same out of his car and will start from 22ndon the grid.
There are two more practice sessions tomorrow ahead of the Shootout at 5:05pm local time.
David Reynolds – 22nd – 2:31.1510
“The car is amazing to drive but it’s just terrible in the wet. I couldn’t turn or brake, I felt like I was on slicks.
“I’m so gutted, everyone worked so hard to get the car here. I would have loved to have made the shoot out because I swear I could have been on the front row. I just need to maybe be a bit more risqué and I am looking forward to the challenge.
“The car showed great speed earlier today and because we know it’s going to be a dry race and we have one of the faster cars in the dry, we’re not panicking, and we know we can do it from here.
“It’s going to be an intense race, particularly up front, so we can go in with a different strategy potentially. It’s been won from way back before so with good strategy there’s nothing to say we can’t do the same thing.”

Anton De Pasquale – 10th – 2:29.8288
“The car is really strong in the dry but not so good in the wet, which is a pretty common trait. It’s definitely our weakness so I wasn’t really feeling that good, but I was able to push quite hard. That’s about all I had so I am really happy to be in the ten.
“It stayed pretty stagnant for most of the session then the last lap dried up a fair bit and I think I was one of the earlier cars across the line and I could see a fair few people still on laps, so it was close. It’s looking dry tomorrow and obviously anything can happen, but our car is definitely better in the dry. We are in the shootout, so we are in the exciting balls-out session of the weekend which is what we aimed for. Its’ good for the team and the sponsors but obviously the race is the most important thing.
“I’ve just got to do a good lap tomorrow. I think there are a few cars ahead of us that we have technical speed over so we’re not in a bad position.”
